What Causes Cracking And Popping Sensation In Ears On Being Diagnosed With Bell's Palsy?

I have been having trouble with my left ear for about a year now. Crackling and popping. The crackling gets worse with certain pitches. It would come & go. Was never constant. About 2 weeks ago, it got worse and worse. Then 1 week ago I was afflicted with Bells Palsy. I seen an ENT and he said my ear looks fine. I don't see how it could be fine when I've been having this issue for the last year. I feel like something is wrong inside my ear which caused the Bell's palsy.
