What Causes Crack Sound And Thereby Pain On Foot?

I was playing basketball last night and as i was running backwards my foot turned inward and i heard a crack. It hurt at the time, then it felt better and I played the rest of practice. When I got home i iced it and went to bed. When i woke up this morning it hurts so bad like 5/10. However, it is not swollen or bruised. what should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a muscle or ligament issue. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application and maintain the foot immobilized. A foot split would be helpful. If the symptoms continue, you should see an orthopedist.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
