What Causes Cough,clogged Eaustation Tubes And Yellow Nasal Drainage?

I have been feeling sick with cough, clogged eaustation tubes and thick yellow drainage from nose for 14 weeks. Chest exray was aok. Did antihistimins and steriods and two rounds of antibiotics. ENT doctor appointment in July! What else can I try?

Your symptoms are in keeping with acute sinusitis.

In many persons the use of the antihistamines, oral steroids and antibiotics would have cleared the infection though in some persons with bacterial sinusitis , it is suggested that the antibiotics be used for up to 14 days.

Additional treatment prior to your ENT appointment would be: (1)prolonged course of appropriate antibiotics for 2 weeks

(2)oral vasoconstrictor such as pseudoephedrine or phenyephrine for 10 to 14 days. These would help restore normal function

(3)a mucolytic agent to break up the mucus so it can drain
