What Causes Cough And Breathlessness Along With Rashes On The Back?

57 y.o. male with flu-like symptoms for 7 days now. Also, rash on back, back of upper arms, less on front (lower abdominal area). Hard to breathe when lying down; feels or hears an almost wheezing in chest/lungs or throat that makes him cough. Scratchy throat, coughing, plugged nose making it even harder to breathe. Nothing sounds or tastes good making it hard to eat, unable to keep most foods down, only able to eat very little at a time. Diarrhea in the first couple of days, but not now. Vomiting has slowed as well.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection. I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

I also recommend using mucolytics for a cough. For the rash, you can use Levocetirizine daily to treat the itching.

If the symptoms continue you should see your doctor for a physical examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
