What Causes Cough After Taking Flu Shot?

This is the second year that I get a cough a week or two after i get a flu shot. I cough so hard I almost pass out. I ve seen Drs., endlnostopy, a swallow test, an ENT, a heart Dr., an Allergist. No one has the answer. I run no fever , I feel fine, but I cough. It is not contagious, my wife or grandkids do not get it. They changed my blood pressure medicine, that wasn t the answer. I ve been on different inhalers. I ve been on steroids and antibiotics. They have tried different cough syrups. No One seems to know what it is. My wife works at a store here in town that has run into 2 or 3 people that have had the same thing as myself and they can t find out what it is either. I am 63 years old , never smoked, I m probably 50 lbs. over weight. If you an answer for me I would appreciate it. Thank you, Ron Miller.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
After having this cough every year after getting the flu vaccine is it possible you are allergic to the flu vaccine? I mean not the actual flu particles that are in the vaccine but the vehicle or liquid that is in the injection. I recommend that next year you do not get the vaccine and see what happens. If you develop a cough even without the vaccine then you have more than likely another allergy associated with that time of year. If you do not get the cough then it is the vaccine.
