What Causes Cough After Choking On Food?

I think I aspirated a bean... So here s the story, I was eating lunch on friday, i choked when a black bean rolled down my tongue so i instinctively coughed, then I swallowed but it felt awkward, there was no more choking after I swallowed. But now I feel like I did accidentally swallow a bean somehow down my trachea and have developed a bit of a cough, not extreme, and I feel like i have some post nasal drip which also may be contributing to the cough, also my chest and throat feel warm, but this could be irritation from coughing. Im not really showing any other signs of aspiration so how much concern should I have? Is my scenario really likely to aspirate if I swallowed?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Do not worry about it, there is some, sort of infection, as there is no definite sign of aspiration.

You can take Azithromycin drug twice a day for three days. You can also do warm water gargle. Drink warm water, and do not eat commercial products, and unhygienic things.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
