What Causes Continuous Bleeding After A Medical Abortion?
hi, i had an medically terminated pregnancy two weeks ago (29th November) through the administration of oral pills... (one the previous night, three other pills in the morning and one eight hours after that in the evening) I dont know what i took as the medication was provided to me by the gynecologist. I began bleeding since that day and am still bleeding off and on (I use up to 1 pad a day) Is this normal? or does it mean incomplete evacuation?
The bleeding after medical termination, usually stops in two weeks time. If the bleeding persists beyond 2 weeks, it is not normal. It is suggestive of incomplete abortion. Therefore see your doctor and get an ultrasound of uterus done.
If the abortion process is not complete, based on the size of the remnant, your doctor may allow for spontaneous expulsion, repeat medications or advise surgery (D&C). You will also be prescribed a course of antibiotics to prevent infection. I hope this helps.
