What Causes Constant Lower Abdominal Pain And Vomiting?

My husband has had lower abdominal pain and vomiting for over a week. Has been to 2 doctors who have given him Flomax and Cipro. Did blood work and said it came back fine. Told him it was a virus and it would pass in 3 days. Cannot eat. If he does, he throws it back up. They re sending him for a CAT scan on Nov. 23rd and a colonoscopy Dec. 5th. He has also had swelling in his feet. Any thoughts?

Hello,

Pain abdomen and vomiting are symptoms that are common in many illnesses. The cause can be viral or bacterial which is managed with antibiotics. Even after antibiotic course if no improvement is seen then next step in doing further tests like USG abdomen, CAT scan.

Usually, when patients with continuous vomiting come to my clinic after careful history and examination along with necessary medicines, I prescribe them antiemetics that can be taken oral or intravenous. I hope your husband has been given antiemitics for the vomiting which will help to control it. I would advice you to follow your doctor’s advice on it. After other tests and CAT scan it will be easy to find out underlying cause for these symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
