What Causes Constant Hiccups With Diabetes?

My father who is 90 yrs old and a diabetic for about 20 yrs is very weak and not having any energy to walk or even stand. He has been having consyany hiccups for the past few days. Can you please suggest some simple home remedy which can be done in bed in lying down position.

1. Constant hiccups is due to diaphragmatic irritation.
2. Eating sweet or sour at times of hiccup could help.
3. Deep breathing exercises or pea nut butter is also known to help.
