What Causes Constant Ear Pain?

My ear hurts (pain) a few times a day, my nose isn't stuffy, all day, just sometimes. It's probably allergy.
I am 64 years of age and have never experienced allergy. So far I've tried, Hot compresses on my ear. Always sleeping on that side so it can drain. Problem, I only have catastrophic health insurance (emergency dept only) Any suggestions?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain in ear can occur due to causes like excess ear wax accumulation, acute and chronic ear infections, foreign body impaction in ears, perforated ear drum etc..

It does not seems to be due to allergies and I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like otoscopy, x ray, MRI scan etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

In case of infction you can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibprofen, nasal decongestant sprays and antibiotic and analgesic ear drops..
Other conditions will be treated as per diagnosis..
