What Causes Constant Collection Of Fluid In Lungs While On 50% Oxygen?

My mother-in-law is on 50% oxygen and they are still getting fluid from her lungs. She coded for 20 min. 8 days ago and we found out she has all 3 arteries to her heart blocked 90% or 80%. They have tried to take her off life support but can not. What if they can not get her to breath without machine? Need answers?!!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symtptoms of your mother in law seem to be related to pulmonary edema. One of the common cause can be heart valve conditions. The ventilator is helping the patient to breathe easier and allow them to recover.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
