What Causes Congestion In The Right Ear?
for about four or five days now i have had a badly blocked right ear. i have been using warm olive oil to try and clear it. i suffer with fibromyalgia syndrome and was rather over zealous when i was trying to clear it just with my finger. for the last day or so my tragus and intertragic notch have been very painful. i believe the wax has loosened because i can hear it popping and crackling but due to the pain i am suffering cannot think of how to drain it out. i have tried using warm water from the shower to no avail

A blocked ear can be due to excessive wax accumulation. However, it can also be due to fluid behind the eardrum.
It is not advisable to try and clear it at home as you do not know what is the cause of it, the cause has to be ruled out and then only it can be treated and resolved.
So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and an Otoscopy of the ear can be done.
If it is due to wax then ear drops can be advised to loosen ear wax and the doctor can clean the wax to ease the discomfort.
In case if it is due to fluid and infection then decongestant nasal drops can be advised like Otrivin and along with it, a course of antibiotics oral and eardrops can help in improvement.
