What Causes Congestion, Cough, Lower Back Pain And Sore Throat?

I am a female 38 yrs. old weighing 123 pounds at 5 2 1/2. I am otherwise healthy. Around the last week of May I all of a sudden came down with a slight sore throat that made me loose my voice, it progressed into congestion in my nose & chest producing a non productive cough, the mucus from my nose was clear and tended to be mainly on my right side. I experienced neck & lower back pain but no fever except a low grade fever 1/2 way through the week. this last for about 3 weeks. It went away as fast as it came, Now 7/8/11 I am experiencing the same symptoms all over again, no fever, but congestion, cough, lower back pain, at times it feels as though I am drowing in the back of my throat but it s just slightly irriatated. I tried some cold medicine then some allergy medicine but nothing seemed to help? I keep moving forward but get tired fast? should I be concerned or just let this run it course?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection.

I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

I recommend you to use Mucolytics for a cough and congestion.

I also recommend you to drink liquids and rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
