My son who was diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic after malaria drug mefloquin/Larium year 2000 is now on aripiprazole 30mg daily olazapine 20mg night pregablin 75mg twice daily Lorazopam 1mg twice daily and was taken off resperidal depot and has confusion trouble walking muscular spasms now responds to commands eating drinking dressing toileting bathing getting in and out of car, changing chqanels on TV, Putting on headphones, Please can you help.
The risperidone discontinuation is known to produce withdrawal symptoms in terms of uneasiness, lethargy, muscle spasm, confusion and other features. Till your consultant helps to figure out the intensity of condition and possible management guidelines, my recommendations are: - Plenty of liquids to maintain hydration - Muscle relaxant as chlordiazepoxide - Assisted physiotherapy - Zinc, magnesium and copper supplements with multi vitamins and minerals support
