What Causes Cloudy Urine Post Treatment For Urinary Infection?
Hi! I am a 62 year old very healthy female. After i went through my menopause I experienced 3-4 times over the past 4 years a urinary infection for the first time in my life. Every time it was treated with antibiotics and I felt fine afterwords. Because I was very concerned in regards to the frequency I was referred to the urologist who requested a pelvic ultrasound done as well as the Cystoscopy. Findings were perfectly normal in both cases. My question is why do I continue having a cloudy urine? Thank you.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Persistance of cloudy urine even after treatment for urinary tract infection (UTI) could be due to recurrence of UTI. Thus, a repeat urine examination is required to rule out UTI. Cloudiness of urine can occur due to other causes like presence of proteins, presence of amorphous urates, phosphates etc in urine. Thus, urine protein also needs to be tested.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
