What Causes Clicking Sensation In Throat While Swallowing Or Singing?

Hello! For the past few months I have been having a clicking in my throat when I swallow and when I sing. When I swallow it doesn t happen every single time but I would say atleast 7 out of 10 times. And this includes when I eat and when I swallow without eating or drinking. I am not a singer, I only noticed this when I would sing along to the radio so I do not put stress on my vocal cords regularly or anything. There is no hoarseness or loss of voice. No lumps that I can see or feel and it does not feel as though something is stuck in my throat. No fever, chills or anything near or around the ears. No other symptoms other than this persistent clicking however, after it happens several times the area can be a little sore. Like a sore muscle feeling. And I would say it lower and more to the right. At first it only happened once or twice a day but now as I said it is at least the majority of the time whether eating/drinking or not. I am a 34 year old female by the way. Any ideas?

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have clicking sensation in throat while swallowing or singing . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to acid reflux . In this condition the sphincter of esophagus do not function well and allow the acidic content to come upward and irritate the lining of esophagus and throat . I would suggest you to consult Gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray of upper digestive system , ambulatory acidity test and endoscopy of esophagus . Doctor may prescribe ranitidine and omeprazole . For now avoid eating acidic , spicy and heavy food , eat light and frequent meals and take antacid after every meal .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
