What Causes Chronic Vaginal Discharge?

This is a long time doubt I ve had. Since I have memory, I ve always had vaginal discharge. Sometimes is clear, sometimes white-ish, different consistencies. They re out there every day, sometimes less, sometimes more, but they diminish before my period and right after it, they resume. I ve never had any kind of vaginal discomfort, no itching, no pain, no burning while urinating, nothing. However, my mom seems to think it s not normal (or that it is dirty) and I have no idea if other women have these because asking seems inappropriate. Is it normal?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Small amount of vaginal discharge is normal, however, excessive vaginal discharge is abnormal. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment and Pap test to know the cause of vaginal discharge and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
