What Causes Chronic Unpleasant Vaginal Odor?

I have had a vaginal odor for over 33 years. I have been treated with antibiotics and it goes away but always comes back. I have used suppostories of boric acid. Works a couple of days and always comes back. It is so embarrassing. You can actually smell it when I leave the restroom. HELP

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Based on the symptoms you have described, it appears that you are having yeast infection of the vagina. You need to be treated with antifungal cream and pessary. You may also require oral antifungal medication. Along with it you need to take care of genital hygiene.

You need to wear loose fitting undergarments preferably made of cotton and abstain from sexual activities till the symptoms subside completely. Kindly consult a gynecologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S
