What Causes Chronic Diarrhea For A Prolonged Period?

I have had chronic diahrrea for quite some time. I have been to see many doctors, have had many tests and blood work, but they have not found anything wrong. I have recently spoken with a patient who has experienced this same problem for years, which resulted in them having a large portion of their intestines removed and now has a colostomy bag. I am afraid that this is going to happen to me if I do not get a proper diagnosis.

Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Use over-the-counter medications like loperamide (Imodium).
-Take probiotics.
-Avoid spicy foods, fruits, alcohol, and caffeine until 48 hours after all symptoms have disappeared.
-Avoid chewing gum that contains sorbitol.
-Avoid milk for three days after symptoms disappear.
