What Causes Chronic Cough Followed By Pain In The Temple?
Hello Dr. ~ I had a bad coughing spell last week and when it stopped, I saw wavy lines mostly in my left eye that lasted for about 20 minutes and then I coughed just a bit more (not bad like the first time) and I had pain in my left temple when I coughed. Can you tell me what was happening. I m female and 68 years old. thank you!

Your symptoms seem to be related to cough headaches. Cough headaches are an unusual type of headache triggered by coughing.
I suggest you use anti-inflammatory medication for a headache such as Ibuprofen three times a day.
I also recommend treating a cough with cough suppressors. If the symptoms continue I suggest a physical examination at your doctor.
