What Causes Chronic Cough And Extreme Fatigue?

I went to ER and was told I have a virus and it just has to run its course. I am rarely sick and this has lasted over a month. I can barely hear, I am not having any wax drainage which usually there is too much, EVERYDAY. I have a cough that is sometimes barky, other times damp, more productive. And I am so tired, I mean really fatigued. I just want relief.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are medications that may help to relieve your symptoms such as: (1) an oral decongestant/anti histamine combination of medication such as benadryl d, allegra d, zyrtec d, claritine d etc

These are over the counter medications

(2)a mucolytic to help break up the mucus so that it can be expelled easier eg bisolvan, guaifenesin, mucomyst
Also over the counter

(3)a cough suppressant that can be used mainly at night (unless you are coughing a lot at work or when you are out and about) eg dextromethorphan
If you are home during the day, do not suppress the cough, let the mucolytic break up and bring up the mucus

If there is no improvement, you may need a course of antibiotics.

I hope this helps
