What Causes Choking Up On Food?

whenever i eat, it feels like i choke on my food even if i chew it well, then i begin to gag, and have to either take deep breaths through my nose, but never through my mouth, or take a sip of a liquid of some type, if non of these work to resolve the issue, then i begin to gag to the point of almost vomiting, but when i do vomit, it s basically only saliva that comes up, other than a couple rare occasions where its just spit and it goes away after a little while. This thing has been going on for a solid year now and I m really scared and don t know what to do, please help.
