What Causes Choking And Coughing While Eating?

what makes you choke and cough when eating? food or your saliva goes down the wrong tube? 2nd question. What make phlegm clog up your wind pipe after eating and it takes a while to clear my throat and breath better, sometime I have to blow my nose several times.

Choking & coughing happens due what is known as "gag reflex" which happens when as you said food or saliva goes in to wrong tube i.e. wind pipe.
Clogging of wind pipe occurs when there is excessive accumulation of phlegm in wind pipe. This can happen due to viral or bacteria infection, allergy or inflammation. This can give rise to feeling of obstruction in breathing and you need to cough several times to clear off it.
Nasal discharge also happen due to the same reason i.e. viral or bacteria infection, allergy or inflammation.
