What Causes Chills And Chronic Cough?

My son is 36 years old and began having chills two nights ago after an exhaustive day of cleaning out a house that was vacated by the death of his uncle. The cold/flu like symptoms continued throughout yesterday and this morning he woke to a coughing spasm. Although he isn t coughing constantly, he told me when he does have a coughing spell he experiences a shooting pain down his arm. Do you think he should take a cough suppressant, and expectorant or other means of addressing this issue

Hi,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, definitely he should start the medication. An antihistamine also, as he seems be having allergic bronchospasm.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Take care.
