What Causes Chest Pain Radiating Towards The Armpits?

I m a very active 58yr old woman I own a small cafe and am in transit home wise, this morning after carrying lots of bags downstairs upon reaching front door I experienced pain radiating from middle of my chest to my armpits, it took me by surprise but I composed myself and stood and mindfully breathed easy and sensation/pain relaxed.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Pain radiating from chest to armpit could be cardiac in origin. I suggest you consult a cardiologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations - ECG, echocardiography and TMT to assess the cardiac status.

Other causes of chest pain are regurgitation, respiratory disease, muscular pain, however, chest pain radiating from chest to armpit is characteristic of cardiac pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
