Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I always have a sharp pricking pain that comes suddenly and disappears after a second or two. It occurs on the left side of my chest intermittently during the day and also occurs on the right side to a much milder extent but rarely though. I have been having these symptoms for some years now and have been expecting it to go away but has actually worsened as I constantly feel a discomfort in my chest regularly now. I do smoke about 7 sticks of cigarettes daily. I have been suffering from migraines since a very young age. My father had this also. And I always have this mild pricking feeling moving all over my body but mostly in my hands and my feet. The combination of the headaches the sharp sensations and chest pain is getting me worried and I ll appreciate some advice on my symptoms.
Since you are an active smoker, you need to first get done chest X-ray to rule out lung infection for your pain. If chest X-ray is normal then no need to worry much. Get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
