What Causes Chest Discomfort While Suffering From COPD?

I had open heart surgery Jan 16 and ever since I am having issues with my lungs. I had fluid in Feb and pneumonia in March. I was a smoker for 30 years before surgery so my primary care tells me its COPD but I had no issues before surgery and now its a constant rattle in my chest on left side only. I do know that the lower lobe of this lung was collapsed on my last CT scan back in April. Just want the rattle and cough to go away? Any advise??

Hi,

It seems that you have had COPD from before which has been exacerbated after your surgery. The best option is to consult a pulmonologist to get treated soon. Using NAC and expectorant can also be helpful with chest physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
