What Causes Chest Congestion After Arterial Thrombectomy?

I just got home from having an arterial thrombectomy with large clots in both of my lungs and I m still very congested. The coughing is really hurting my sternum and I m afraid of having it rip open. I was wondering if I can take diabetic tussin to help suppress the cough and get the gun out without popping at the seams.

Hello,

Yes, you can take it but not for a long time. If the cough is not improved by the passing time than better for you to consult your treating doctor and probably he/she should add in your current treatment some diuretics to help the lungs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jnikolla, Pulmonologist
