What Causes Calves And Ankle Pain After Having Intestinal Infections?

HI I just got home from the hospital yesterday after treatments for an infection in both my large and small intestines. Today, as I was walking, the calves and ankles began throbbing to the point where I could not walk at all. Any thoughts. I am 58.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have calves and ankle pain after having intestinal infections . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like soft tissue injury , hematoma , nerve injury or compression . It can also occur due to condition like sciatica .I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with nerve conduction test . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory along with nerve supplement and recommend physical therapy . Doctor may also recommend surgery in severe nerve damage . For now keep your leg elevated while sleeping and apply warm compresses several times a day . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for neuropathy or other nerve problem. Consult gastroenterologist for intestinal infection .
