What Causes Burning Sensation On The Skin During Winter?

During these dry winter months, my skin has a burning sensation. I have been using Neutrogena, but wonder what I can change to that will soothe the skin. At night I have resorted to a light coverage of Vaseline but that is not effective. I am 70 yrs old. Thank you YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
I do understand your pain and discomfort.
As per your history there are many pathological causes responsible for burning sensation on the skin ,so to make a diagnosis you need some investigations as below-:
1)Do full blood count with differential
2)Check Blood sugar and TSH
3)Correct Hb% by injectable Iron Sucrose and B-12 by injectable medications
4)Check your body temp every 6 hours and record it
I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.
Wishing you all the best.
Thanks,
I find this answer helpful
