What Causes Burning Sensation In The Throat While Suffering From Flu?

My son was diagnosed with Flu B on 2/3. He went in for a follow up on 2/8 and appeared to have strep based on what appeared to be puss on the back of his throat. The rapid test was negative, cultures have now been found to be negative as well. He is 2lbs down, no appetite, not really drinking either. He sleeps in excess of 15 hours a day when given the opportunity. He complains of feelings like his throat is burning and having vomit in his neck . Very concerned. He is also on the spectrum.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is probably due to local inflammation of the throat.

As of now you can take antihistamines like pheniramine for symptomatic relief.

Do warm saline gargles also.

If symptoms persists better to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
