What Causes Burning Sensation In The Buttocks Radiating To The Knee?

I have been having sciatic symptoms for almost two months. Numbness on the top of my left foot. Burning down the back of my left leg from the buttock to behind the knee. Numbness on the bottom of the foot comes and goes. Pins and needles in my left hand. A few days ago I started having pins and needles and slight numbness on my left cheek. Can sciatic also effect the face. It only lasted about an hour or so.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have burning sensation in the buttocks radiating to the knee. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like brusitis , tendinitis or sciatica . But in your case the symptoms seems to be due to nerve dysfunction like sciatica. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses , take proper rest , do light stretching exercises . If condition doesn't get well then consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with nerve conduction test . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory along with nerve supplement . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy or particular exercises .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
