What Causes Burning Sensation In Head After Hitting It?

I hit my head two days ago on a low ceiling in the attic on the right side and I didn't get knocked out or anything. I did see a few "stars" but immediately and went about my day. I was fine until today when I felt a little bit of pressure and no headache but perhaps a slight burning sensation from the area. Should I go to the ER or make an appointment tomorrow at my doctor? No nausea, vomiting or anything like that although I do feel tired. Not sure if this is a result of hitting my head or allergies or what.

Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. Your history is suggesting that your injury was non dangerous, mild type. You din't have any vomiting, nausea, seizures, weakness and your are conscious and oriented. It means there is no need to go ER.

Regarding burning sensation at injury site, it is most probably due to inflammatory reaction to injury. It is not due to allergy. For relief in it, you can

- Apply icepacks over it.

- Take anti-inflammatory like diclofenac after proper prescription. If there is swelling, you can take tablet serratiopeptidase after proper prescription.

Avoid any pressure at this area. The pain and swelling will subside in 7-10 days. If your symptoms worsen or swelling increases, consult doctor to rule out any collected blood. Sometimes, collected blood might need evacuation.

Hope it will clear your doubts. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
