What Causes Burning Sensation At The Injection Site Of A Navelbine Shot?

My husband is being treated with Navelbine for his stage 4 lung cancer. A week ago on Monday at the very end of his infusion he started to have extreme burning at the injection point. The nurse slowed it down and the burning let up and he finished his treatment. A couple of days later he started experiencing pain around the injection area and up his arm. As of today his arm hurts all the way up to his shoulder and cannot be relieved with pain killers. His skin is also sensitive to touch. Is this tissue damage from the Navelbine seeping from the vein and will the pain eventually let up. Should we contact his oncologist? He is not scheduled to see the doctor until next week. Thank you
