Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Burning Sensation And Swelling In Eyes With Retinal Migraine?
I suffered a retinal mirgrane 4 weeks ago. So far we have not found the cause. However, my eye burns/stings and feels like it s swollen with some pressure. The sinus in the nose and surrounding the eye feels wrong. I ve been to a retinal opthamologist as well as EIT (we tried antibiotics and mild steroid but it did nothing). What do you think? Also, MRI w/contrast of brain & orbital was fine. So far echo cardio and carotid arteries are fine. Doing a bit more heart research. Blood/urine all good.
Retinal migraine is caused by the blood vessels to the eye suddenly narrowing, reducing the blood flow to the eye. It may be triggered by stress.
So, first of all, yu should reduce stress on a daily basis. Some other suggestions are;
-Place a cold washcloth over your closed eyes two to three times a day for five minutes at a time to manage pain and swelling.
-Eye drops containing castor oil may help reduce eye irritation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
