What Causes Burning Sensation And Itching Around The Tailbone?

I m a 52 year old male my wife and I moved 8 months ago from Colorado to Montana, about 6 months ago my back end stated to burn and itch, I thought maybe hemmroids but never having them I was just guessing, after putting preparation H on and the burn sent me thru the roof I thought that s not it, so I thought maybe it s dry skin, after putting on medicated ointment it got better, but I have to put it on everyday or it burns and itches so bad I can t stand it. I did go to a local doctor about 2 months ago told him the story he looked at it and said it looked normal and fine, why would this happen and should I see another doctor, thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a yeast infection. I recommend washing and drying frequently the area. I recommend using an antifungal cream for local application.

If the symptoms continue you should use antifungal oral medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
