What Causes Burning In The Throat Along With Pressure In The Chest?

I have a burning in my throat a lot of the time. Once in a while it is bad enough it feels like it chokes me. The Dr. put me on Omeprozole. I hate to take the Omeprozole since it blocks the absorption of calcium which I need because I have osteopenia. I m also experiencing a heaviness and some pressure in my chest and irregular heart beats. So is that from my acid reflux or my heart? Puzzled! Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to gastroesophageal reflux disease. I suggest to continue the use of Omeprazole 20 mg daily in the morning before breakfast. I also suggest using Maalox. I recommend to avoid food that can trigger the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
