What Causes Burning Eyes, Lowered Eyelids And Twitching After Cataract Removal?

My first cataract removal was end of November, with two weeks later in December for the second eye. Ever since, my eyes burn, feel like the lids are lowered, sometimes quiver. It makes me EXTREMELY sleepy most of the day. Every doctor tells me they are dry and to add drops. I have tried all kinds. NOTHING helps. Here I am going into the third month, do you have a suggestion?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms you are describing following cataract surgery is mainly due to dryness and mild inflammation. Kindly use the following medications to overcome them.
1. Carboxymethylcellulose containing eye drops.
2. Bromfenac containing eye drops.

Avoid exposure to direct heat and dust. Use cooling glasses when necessary. Gradually, you should be able to overcome the symptoms and be back to normal. Kindly do a follow-up with your doctor as advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
