I have what seems to be neuropathy developing in my feet - burning, numbing, tingling, some pain when I walk. I am looking for recommendations for a natural methods to help with the condition. My Dr has prescribed Duloxitine and I am taking 30mg per day but on days when I am on my feet all day it is does not seem to be enough. I have also been using a Tens unit on the bottom of my feet and some accpuncture points. Thank you Bill PIckett

Hello.

Thanks for writing to HCM.

You are right in suspecting a neuropathic pain as your symtoms are highly suggestive of the same.

The current line of treatment is also correct. However, if you are not getting adequate relief with it, you may have to consider other medications like gabapentin, pregabalin and amitriptyline.

Also important is looking into the cause of the neuropathic pain as many of them are reversible. Common causes are vitamin B12 deficiency, diabetes mellitus and thyroid disorders. Testing for these and treating them may significantly alleviate your symptoms.

Hope this helps. Wishing you good health.

Regards,
Dr Geeta
