Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

Since the swelling around your knee is red and painful, a bone injury is likely. You need to get an X-ray of the area done. MRI is the best investigation to diagnose the internal knee joint structures injury.I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. Till then avoid weight bearing on the knee and keep the leg elevated on two pillows.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
