What Causes Bumps Under And On Back Of Tongue?

I have a burning tongue and now looks fissured. I have bumps on back of tongue and now little bumps on inside of cheek and under tongue. It has been about a month now. I went to a Dr. two weeks ago who told me it was probably canker sores and to rinse with mouth rinse. But it has not gone away. I am going through a bad divorce and she told me it was probably from stress. Not sure.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

Yes, stress can be a major factor in contributing towards such a presentation. I would advise adequate rinsing of your oral cavity, along with vitamin B complex supplements, sufficient hydration, and a check on your STD status using an STD-panel. If at all any STDs are found, then a medical approach should help. Also, oral thrush may have to be ruled out.

Best wishes.
