What Causes Bumps On Upper Ribs While Treating Diabetes?

Good day Doctor ! My 40 year old brother has type 2 diabetes in 7 years and has been taking metformin.He accidentally got bumps in his upper ribs from the handles of his bike because of urgent need to pull up when a passersby came across him.What should he do to get relieve and be cured ? I hope you can help us,and God Bless you.
