What Causes Bruising, Numbness On Arm And Shoulder Post Insect Bite?
I think I may have an insect/bug sting on my finger. I didn t feel the actual sting but all of a sudden my finger started to burn and swell up. I immediately felt a numbing sensation go from my finger to my elbow. 24 hrs later my finger is not swollen but has a bruise like spot and the tingling numbness has elevated to all of my arm and shoulder. Do I need to see a doctor?
Since you had an insect bite you should thoroughly wash the area with plain water and antibacterial soap. Washing it with vinegar also works well. If you can see any insect stingers on the skin, try to remove it. If stingers are there at the site of the bite it will increase inflammation, burning and swelling. You can take non sedating antihistamines, once daily for 3-5 days to reduce reaction due to allergy.
To ease pain, discomfort and swelling take Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS when required. Insect bites generally subside within 48 hours, you can apply Soframycin cream in the area affected due to swelling. Since you are getting numbness you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP in ER, so that you can get urgent intravenous support if needed. You may need antibiotics if there is septicemia developing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
