What Causes Bruising And Swelling On The Lower Back After An Injury?

Hello I took a fall today while riding a horse. My lower back is bruised and swollen and hurts a lot even though I m applying ice and have taken a pain killer. It s been about 3 hours since the incident and I m having a hard time walking, my left leg and lower back feel extremely stiff and it hurts for me to walk. I have fallen like this before and although get bruising and soreness, I ve not had this problem walking. Should I get x-rays?

Hi,

Bruising and swelling on lower back are normal effects of trauma caused to lower back after fall. Bruising will take some time to resolve. Pain can be controlled by pain killers. X-ray of spine and pelvis is advised to rule out any fracture of vertebrae or pelvis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
