What Causes Brownish Discharge During Pregnancy?

I am about 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Last night, I went to the restroom before I went to bed, and when I wiped I had some brownish, mucous-like discharge. I haven t had any cramps or pains, and it only happened last night. Today, I have the normal, whitish discharge, but I had my 8 week ultrasound and tests done, and the doctor said everything looks great! I am a worry wart and don t want something to be wrong, and under estimate it. So I don t know if it is normal or if I need to go to the doctor? My next appointment is Monday and this is my first pregnancy.

Hello
Welcome to HCM
Thanks for posting your query . I understand your concerns. Brown discharge is quite common in some women. It is called placental bleeding.

It occurs due to implantation of placenta to the wall of uterus. No need to worry. If there is fresh bleed along with pain abdomen, you need to consult your gynecologist as soon as possible.

But for now, no worries. Wish you safe and happy pregnancy.

Thank you
