What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge While On Microgynon Pills?

Last week I had pissed a couple of my microgynon pills and took 2 the next day , however , last Saturday and Sunday I missed the pill and left them in the pack and then carried on taking them as normal. However the past few days I have been having brown discharge with period like pains but no red blood or anything, am I pregnant and could it be an ectopic pregnancy ?

Hi,

Certain pills can cause brown colored discharge and is not of much significance. Pregnancy is unlikely and you can go for a urine pregnancy test to check whether you are pregnant or not.

Other possibility is infections like yeast or bacterial vaginosis. You can go for a vaginal swab to rule out infections.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
