What Causes Brown Moles On The Body?

I am 47 now and have seen brown moles increase on my body with age, on torso. I understand as normal. The past few months I have seen them increase in my groin area, in the space between genitals and leg, a few on the base sides of scrotum. Does this sound normal too?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Almost every one of us has a few moles. Adults who have light skin often have more moles. We may have 10 – 40 moles on our skin. This is normal. But you should be very careful when a mole starts growing in size or its color changes or any itching. Melanoma, a type of dangerous skin cancer, can grow in or near a mole. If detected early and treated, melanoma can be cured. The first sign of melanoma is often a change to a mole or a new mole on your skin. I suggest you to immediately go to a surgeon or dermatologist for examination of your moles.
