Noted the history about your husband having liquid brown stool half the the times he poops, there is burning after eating spicy foods, severe stomach cramps mainly after eating a meal. He is healthy at mainly at home, going on for years, wants opinions. As per the history you have provided, I would think of intolerance added on with either intestinal infection or irritable bowel syndrome. The diagnosis is made by either proving a disease or by by ruling it. I would advise him the following in such a situation: - Stool tests for three consecutive days. - Tests of blood: CBC, thyroid function tests - Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen and CT scan of the abdomen if there is a doubt. - Colonoscopy If something is diagnosed specifically, please get it treated accordingly and he will be fine. I fall the investigations are normal, then get treated as IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome.
