What Causes Brown Coloured Marks On The Heels Of An Infant?

Hello, just noticed two brown marks on my 3 month olds heel. One directly on the sole of her foot and the other on the outer side. They are not birth marks, and we were in the sun quite a lot today.. What do I do and should I take her to the doctors right away. I read online it could be internal bleeding. But her little foot was not bumped or hurt in any way..??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I would recommend you to just watch how the marks will be in the next few weeks. If they stay stable, do not increase in size and you do not notice new ones coming out very likely this is nothing to worry. Even though they are not birth spots, sometimes spots come out soon after birth.

If the marks are increasing in size or you notice new ones coming out you will need to have a doctor examine them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
