What Causes Broken Blood Vessels On The Base Of The Fingers?

I am a 64 year old female in very good health. In the past 6 months I have had a popped blood vessel on the base of my middle finger and now one the palm of my hand at the bottom of the index finger. What causes this. It was not caused by an injury either time. How do I prevent? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Based on your description, it appears that the lesions what you are talking about could be 'angioma' (red moles).
The exact cause of red moles is unknown, but there may be a genetic factor that makes certain people more likely to get them.
They are also been associated with pregnancy, exposure to chemicals, certain medical conditions, and climate.
It can be left alone without any harm.
However, due to cosmetic reasons or if it is bleeding repeatedly, then it may need removal by 'electrocauterization'.
Kindly consult Dermatologist in this regard for appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
